Since 2006, following a brand re-launch, Cruyff Classics produces trainers, sneakers and leisure shoes based on the original models of Johan Cruyff from the 1980s. The story of the Cruyff sports shoe began in the late 1970s.
While in Barcelona, Cruyff began to conceptualise a design for his ideal sports shoe. He then got together with Italian designer Emilio Lazzarini (of Pantofola d’Oro fame) and they came up with a winning match of functionality (Cruyff’s input) with elegance (Italian input). The Johan Cruyff soccer boot was born and was a big success. In its heyday throughout the 1980s, the legendary Cruyff sports shoes were worn on soccer pitches across Europe by iconic players such as Marco Van Basten.
Today the Cruyff Classics brand continues to be inspired by admiration for Johan Cruyff and his achievements – not least in pioneering the innovative combination of elegance and functionality in the sports shoe.
