Spring Baby Animals at Amsterdam Zoo

Finally it seems like spring has really and truly arrived. Typically at this time of the year, the zookeepers at Amsterdam’s charming Artis Zoo are busy welcoming the new arrivals – not least of which are three gorgeous baby maras, seen here with their mum. Maras are native to South America and can jump over 2 metres high when fully grown.

Another new addition is Alexandro, a male tapir calf. His striking stripes would act as a perfect camouflage in his native South America.

And the cutest baby Bennett wallaby, getting lots of TLC from his Mum.

Celebrate spring with a visit to Artis this weekend. There’s lots to explore, including a planetarium, an aquarium, and a butterfly house.
