Every year since 1997, the by now highly acclaimed Prinsengracht Concert brings enchantment to an Amsterdam summers evening like no other event. And it’s free – everybody is welcome to come and listen.
This year’s Prinsengrachtconcert promises to be exceptional. 2013 represents the 400 year anniversary of Amsterdam grachtengordel (Amsterdam Canal Belt), now a UNESCO World Heritage site. 2013 is also the 125 anniversary of the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest, widely recognised as one of the best orchestras in the world.
No surprise then that The Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest is the featured guest for the Prinsengrachtconcert 2013. The entire Concertgebouw orchestra will perform on the specially erected pontoon in front of the Pulitzer hotel. The concert opens with the Young Opera per Tutti.
As always, get there early! Amsterdammers listen to the concert either from their boats, which are moored up in the Prinsengracht canal or from the Prinsengracht quays. Full details on Prinsengracht Concert August 2013.
