Beautiful Handmade Ikat Fabrics for curtains, bedspreads and soft furnishings from Capsicum Interiors

The craft of Ikat is an ancient traditional weaving technique that is both very complicated and physically demanding to produce. A skill that has existed since 500 AD in India, it is a process whereby the fabric is dyed BEFORE weaving, so that the pattern is actually coloured into the fabric. This means that the pattern does not need to be embroidered or printed onto the material.
