The bicycles at Bike City are 'anonymous' and if you've ever hired a bike here in Amsterdam you'll know what we mean, if you don't want to stand out as a tourist, these bikes are very understated in their colour scheme - navy blue - this means you look as though you live here when you're cycling around. In fact many Amsterdammers, who can't live without their wheels for a single day - will come here for bike repairs and have a Bike City cycle to use while theirs is being fixed.

The process is very easy - you need some ID (passport or driver's license) and a deposit for the bike hire and then you can take the bike for as long as you like - the hire fee is calculated at the end when you return the bike on a 24 hour basis, and the longer you keep the bike the cheaper it gets.

They'll give you lots of friendly advice about how to keep yourself and your bike safe whilst out and about and also have a fantastic array of add-ons you can hire along with the bicycle - such as children's bike seats, bike trailers, and if you plan to take a longer trip - outside the city, they have touring cycles with gears etc

The Waterland tour is particularly picturesque taking you through Durgerdam and Broek in Waterland with a ferry trip back to the city at the end.
