Amsterdam's Gay Pride festival weekend is among the best on the planet. In a city that really knows how to party - anyone who's experienced Koninginnedag will testify - Amsterdam's historic centre becomes one big celebration of Gay Pride, with the whole city joining in the fun.
The absolute highlight of Amsterdam's Gay Pride event, and hugely popular with the local Amsterdammers, is the famous Canal Parade, which involves anything up to 100 spectacular floats (usually elaborately converted barges) floating downstream through Amsterdam's canals, as thousand of canal-side bystanders watch the fun and join in the party. Simply unbeatable entertainment!

Through out the weekend, there are round-the-clock events and literally hundreds of street parties!

Friday night kicks off with the Reguliersdwaarsstraat party, party at the Westermarkt (location of Amsterdam's symbolic gay monument) and mainly for women the Paardenstraat party.
On Saturday, the Canal Parade begins at 14.00 and goes on until around 18.00. The Parade route begins outside the Central Station, moves down along the Prinsengracht, turning left at the Amstel River and finishing at the Oosterdok (Eastern Dock). Book your canal side spot early - expect around 350,000 spectators!
